DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Mochelle, Rue du Coq et St Honoré, No 6A, Paris (listed as Mochelle & Roquerbe ca 1824), quarter repeater with concealed pusher (pull out and rotate 90 degrees to plunge), 48mm, 18K rose gold OF original case with signed gold cuvette, case bearing French hallmark for 18K placed in use in 1819, cuvette additionally marked, "Parachute & Compensateur, Echapt [sic] à Cylindre, Huit Trous en Rubis," KWKS, silver Tavernier-style ET dial, cylinder escapement with parachute shock and compensation curb, as stated in French, 10J (8J plus two caps), gilt mvt, s#14011. Gross weight of assembled watch 45.9 dwt (71.4 g). The watch is very much in the style of Breguet, with hidden plunger for which he was famous.
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, fine mvt condition overall; repeat functions slowly and does not quite get to the end of strike without help, has nice bell-like gong tone; dial excellent, a few light scuffs; hands excellent; case approaching medium wear, some MFS and a few scratches, two sharp dented scratches, no other dings, ET detail fading unevenly; bow tight, thinned at apex, push shows very light wear; good glass crystal.
